ACTIVITY OF THE HOMOEOPATHIC MOBILE VAN FOR THE YEAR 2004 - 2005

Inaugural function of free medical camp for children in slum area of Shivaji Nagar
 

M.B.Barvalia foundation’s Comprehensive Mobile Clinic Project through Mobile Van was inaugurated by eminent social worker Dr. Vamanbhai Mehta – past district governor, Lions International. Various dignitaries like Dr. (Mrs.) Nisha Pandit, Mr.Suresh Gholatkar etc were present.  

Mobile Van is operational since January-2003.

Geographical area covered by mobile van is N Ward & M Ward of greater Mumbai.Following are the area where van visits; Shivaji Nagar, Ramabai Colony, Shivneri (Mankhurd).

 
We run SHIVAJINAGAR mobile activities in coordination with rotary club on Wednesday.
 
Mobile Van is catering various services in the community at large.
 
  1. General Homoeopathic treatment for all the diseases.

  2. Childcare project – activities. 

  3. Activities related to HIV/AIDS and STI.


This project is comprehensive and it promotes Homoeopathy therapy in slum areas of M & N Ward.

 
  1. 2-3 Homoeopathic Doctors every day provide homoeopathic treatment to people in slum area.

  2. Gradually we have enhanced timings and our services, thus mobile is covering 2 different areas in same day.

  3. In collaboration with MDACS we carry out Holistic Homoeopathic intervention in HIV/AIDS and STI; we carry out awareness programme.

    a. We do regular campaign and awareness programme at all the areas, making patient aware, orient and whom to contact for investigation and treatment.

    b. We treated many STI patients.

  4. Childcare team also posted in the mobile van.

We distribute IEC material for the same.

Through their help we carry out primary screening of the school children of Shivajinagar and Ramabai Colony. The purpose is to identify, orient, educate the parents and carry out their regular intervention programme in mobile van.

Details about Ramabai Nagar Mobile Clinic:

The Mobile Van visits Ramabai Nagar every Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays in the morning 11.00 A.M to 1.00 P.M since the day of commencement of the project.
KEY FEATURES OF THE AREA:
  • Densely populated area by Maharashtrians (nav buddha) and the migrant population rom various parts of India.

  • People belonging to low socio-economical strata.

  • Lack of basic necessities

- Unhygienic living

- Poor sanitation

- No proper disposal of waste

- Addictions

- No education and unemployment and related problems.


2) FUNCTION OF MOBILE VAN:
We employed MSW and did the entire survey of the area. He visited at least 300 families and did survey regarding various things like 
    • Family size, education, work area, addictions.
    • Illnesses in the family (origin, duration and treatment history)
    • Illness amongst children.

After detailed survey following actions planned:
  1. Educating the masses, creating awareness by providing them information about hygiene, health and development of disease.

  2. Reaching out to them and providing them with cost-effective Homeopathic Medicines.

  3. Counselling was planned for their addiction problems.

Details about Shivaji Nagar Mobile Clinic:

The Mobile Van visits Shivaji Nagar every Monday, Wednesdays & Saturdays in the morning 11.00 A.M to 1.00 P.M since the day of commencement of the project.
1) KEY FEATURES OF THE AREA:
  • Densely populated area by Muslims originating from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

  • People belonging to very low socio-economical strata.

  • Lack of basic necessities   

          -    Unhygienic living

          -    Poor sanitation

          -    No proper disposal of waste

          -    No safe drinking water


2) FUNCTION OF MOBILE VAN:
  1. Educating the masses, creating awareness by providing them information about hygiene, health and development of disease.

  2. Invade the masses reaching out to them and providing them with cost-effective Homeopathic Medicines.

  3. Organize Free Medical Camps to identify the number of cases of a particular ailment so that precautions against the widely spread can be taken accordingly.

  4. Involving the nearby school Teachers in knowing about scholastic difficulties faced by students thus helping them to identify such problems so that prompt steps be taken accordingly.

  5. Be in regular correspondence with the voluntary health workers and social organizations in the area so that their support can get as to the actual problem of the area and help us to deal the same effectively.


We have started childcare activities at few schools of Shivaji nagar. Children are brought to our mobile van by peon and our compounder and they are screened by the team of doctors and therapists free of charge and are given guidance and treatment. Our plan is to cover most of the schools of the area.

The Van since the initial months only has been able to strike the cord right and win faith of people, which has only increased with time and In 2 year and 3 months respose is positive from the community and for their other problems they have started coming to foundation at Ghatkopar.

The Mobile Van donated by the MDACS serves special purpose in providing information, Education about HIV and AIDS and encourages people to communicate about their myths and misunderstanding about the same.
  • It helps the feeling of responsible citizen

  • Behavioral Modification – Practicing safe sex

  • Distributing Condoms freely to men

Future – Vision:
  1. Keep up to the faith and respect by taking timely effective action and relieve the patient of the ailment.

  2. Build up stronger basis for children – scholastic Learning disabilities and mentally retarded and Cerebral Palsy and offer them conjugate therapies e.g. Special Education. Clinical Psychologist, Physiotherapist.

  3. Encourage patients/people to come with their queries about HIV/AIDS.  Identify HIV positive cases in the vicinity and educate them the importance of hygiene, Diet and improve the quality of their life by treating them with Homeopathy
